Digital Yuan (e-CNY) Guide
China's central bank digital currency is now available to foreigners in 26+ pilot cities. It works offline and does not require a Chinese bank account.
What is e-CNY?
e-CNY is China's official digital currency, issued by the People's Bank of China. Unlike Alipay/WeChat Pay which are payment platforms, e-CNY is actual legal tender — like digital cash. It can work offline (tap-to-pay via NFC) and is being rolled out across major cities.
